About Brittany
Adolescence is just one big walking pimple. ~ Carol Burnett
Middle school and high school are exciting times of our lives, marked by identity exploration, experimentation, and formation. And yet, they can also be some of the most stressful and overwhelming times of life — full of uncertainty, new expectations, and neverending pressure.
There comes a point where it just feels like too much.
That’s when grades begin to slip, extracurricular activities start to drain us, and our relationships with friends and family suffer, leaving us feeling isolated, lonely and misunderstood.
That’s when Brittany is here to help.
Brittany specializes in working with preteens and teens, ages 12-16, who are navigating the academic, social, relational, and formative challenges of middle school and high school. Her clients include those experiencing depression, anxiety, self-harm, ADHD, PTSD, family conflict, stress/burnout, adjustment disorder and others.
Brittany's background in case management, museum education, and arts administration, allows her to pull from diverse experiences in order to gain valuable insights into the impact of creative expression on personal growth. While she has worked with children, adolescents/teens, adults, and families, some of her favorite roles have included working with LGBTQ+ youth, incarcerated adolescents, and individuals seeking to build connections during and following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her training in Marital and Family Therapy, with a specialization in Clinical Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University, allows her to conceptualize the family system and the individual’s emotional world through a creative lens. With additional training in EMDR and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Brittany’s approach to trauma-informed care is driven by the values of compassion, collaboration and creativity.
While she trusts each person is their own expert, she recognizes sometimes clients just need help breaking down barriers blocking them from fully seeing and knowing themselves.
That’s why Brittany encourages clients to explore their innermost thoughts and emotions through art, allowing for deeper self-awareness and connection. Through collaborative and caring interactions, Brittany helps clients discover insights that promote identity formation and grit, leaving them feeling more connected to themselves and others, and capable of utilizing new coping skills in order to get unstuck.
